Across Upstate New York, in communities large and small, redlining and racial covenants during the first half of the Twentieth Century had a widespread, lasting, and adverse impact, restricting minority homeownership and spreading housing discrimination and residential segregation.  Segregated Upstate is intended to serve as a clearinghouse for information about redlining and racial covenants in Upstate New York.  Click on any of the cities and towns below to learn more.
